If you don’t use the stock clock application, you might experience problems when using Google Assistant on Android. By default, it will only use the clock application that came with your device to set a timer and alarm, effectively ignoring your third-party clock. But there is a way to fix it.
Open the Google app, tap the microphone icon, then just say “set timer”. Tap the clock icon or the three dot menu on the right, then a list of clock apps from the expanded menu will appear.
Tap the clock application that you want to use by default for your timer, set “Duration” for one minute, then press “Finish.” Now tap the timer icon at the bottom to start the countdown, which updates your Google Assistant clock application settings simultaneously. Check your notifications or open the clock application with the timer set for one minute, then cancel to complete it here.
You can update these clock settings at any time using the Google application, but that applies universally to Google Assistant on all your devices. That means you don’t have to keep returning to the Google app every time you want to set a timer – just run the Google Assistant as usual, and you’re ready!
